The objective of this laboratory experiment is to be able to identify and precisely classify each reaction as one of the five different types of chemical reactions by comparing the reactants from the product. SSG Bob on 23 Sep 05 I had received a phone call at 1410 hrs. from SGT Bill stating that he had come into some money and that he had known that I was wanting to get some additional equipment for OUR SRT. SGT Bill stated that he needed myself to come in and type up a letter of justification and if I could also have SGT Jones come in as well to assist in writing this letter due to the fact that SGT Jones had been placed in charge of training folders. On notification of this I was on the phone notifing my soldiers of where they needed to be and in doing this I had also asked SPC Man if could also inform you of what I had going on in case he had seen you before me, but his telling you was not going to be your only notification, nor would I†¦show more content†¦SSG Love the biggest problem I see with this unit is that many people do not want to be dedicated to anything but themselves. With SRT being a new team we really need to focus on what we can do to better the team, and get the respect for our subordinates, peers and superiors. I want to use this same style for my team in the squad, and for our squad itself. I believe it is a winning combination. SSG Bob another thing that had alarmed me was your statements about SRT. I was more than surprised when you said you did not care about the team, I am hoping that was a heat of the moment statement. Health And Insurance System Essay The development of liberal thought began in the seventeen-century England. Often, constitutional monarchy is perceived as a beginning of liberalism. Growthof commercial middle classes and wealth accumulation and consumption, leaded toa new, individualistic morality. The individual is a basic unit of theliberalism ideology. Supreme goals of a liberal political system arepreservation of the individual and attainment of individual happiness. Thatincludes the preservation of the individual properties, that is individual life,liberty and estate, and the task of the government was to help the individual indoing so. Individual is to be regarded as inviolable and human life as asacrosanct, so the violence is prohibited except in preservation of liberalsociety. This ideology respects all persons as moral beings with equalsensitivity (but at the same time it doesnt take women in account.). Individual is assumed to be essentially rational, so it could be considered theprime source of value, which determines justification of participatory ratherthan authoritarian government. Liberalism diminishes importance of social whole,which is considered not to have any rights against individuals. This outlook canbe called atomistic. Liberal theorists are unwilling to invoke conceptssuch as the common good and public interests. The only common good they wantrecognize is the maximization of the aggregate of individual benefits. On theeconomic side 18th- and 19th-century liberalism based itself on the sovereigntyof the market and the natural harmony of interests. On this view, ifindividuals are left free to pursue their self-interest in an exchange economybased upon a division of labour, the welfare of the group as a whole willnecessarily be enhanced. Classical liberal economists describe a self-adjustingmarket mechanism free from all teleological influences. While moral goals areinvo ked and ethical criteria presupposed in passing ultimate judgment on thesystem, they play no part in determining the sequence of events within it. Theone propelling force is the selfishness of the individual, which becomesharnessed to the public good because in an exchange economy he must serve othersin order to serve himself. It is only in a free market, however, that thisconsequence can ensue; any other arrangement must lead to regimentation,exploitation, and economic stagnation. Spiritual side of individual wasacknowledged in assumption that man is a free, rational and self improvingbeing, and that his natural state is freedom. The duty of government was toprovide the conditions to individual to enjoy the maximum possible freedomwithin a frame of law. The hallmark of the liberalism is a concern with thelimits of authority and opposition to state interference with individualactivities. Classical Liberals tend to define freedom in negative forms, forexample, freedom from government regulation, and to opposite to almost allgovernment activity. The role of the state is to perform as a device forperforming the residual tasks which individual self-interest leaves undone. Theguiding principle of historical liberalism has been an undeviating insistence onlimiting the power of government. The main concept is that economic freedom is akey to individual liberty. On the other handand this is a basic differencebetween classical and contemporary liberalismmost liberals now believe thatthe dispensations of the market, as it has in fact operated, must besupplemented and corrected in substantive ways. They contend that enormoussocial costs incurred in production are not reflected in market prices, and thatresources are used wastefully. Not least, liberals charge that the marketadvances the allocation of human and physical resources in the direction ofsatisfying superficial wants (for oversized motor cars and unnecessary gadgets),while basic needs (for schools, housing, rapi d public transit, sewage treatmentplants) go unmet. Finally, although liberals believe that prices, wages, andprofits should continue to be subject to negotiation among the interestedparties and responsive to conventional market pressures, they insist thatprice-wage-profit decisions affecting the economy as a whole must be reconciledwith public policy. Socialists, on the other hand define human beings ascreatures formed by the environment. The human nature is eminently sociable, andformed by society. Doctrine subsumes individual interests under generalinterests. The individual gives up most of the power over herself to gain thefraction of power over every other citizen. Any interferingof the state in private matters of the individual is inexcusable, and for thehealth care and insurance the same rules should be applied like for everythingelse: the rules of free market. Inclusive Learning Whilst researching this subject in depth, you come to understand how many teachers could view this as quite complex, but does it have to be? Well after reading so much myself my views didn’t change. Inclusive learning to me is simple; it’s about making the educational system accessible to all learners regardless of physical, mental or emotional needs. I could take quotes down from numerous authors, some which may hit all the right notes, but for me one short explanation on (Wikipedia Dictionary 2011). Fully inclusive schools which are rare, no longer distinguish between â€Å"general Education† and â€Å"Special Education† programs, instead, the school is restricted so that all students learn together. Although in some circumstances this is not always possible, we can adopt our attitudes and surroundings to include a vast number of disadvantaged students. In a study it has shown that it can have a positive effect on both students with or without special needs, it can help with reading, individualised educational programs (IEPs), improving communication and social skills. You will always get critics who maintain special needs students are individualised, and in some studies the results show they may be right, but I maintain that in my teaching there will always be a place for Inclusive Learning to all. Inclusion, diversity, entitlement, differentiation, ensuring equal opportunities and personalised learning all require teachers to treat all students as Individuals. It’s as simple as that!!! Functional skillsFunctional skills are used in the broad sense to ensure that every learner is provided with the skills, abilities and knowledge needed to undertake responsibility in their everyday life, work, education and community. Functional skills are integrated into all my lesson plans, wherever possible. However, within my organisation, there is 2 hrs. a week set aside for specialist teaching, for all students. Which whilst this, is a good thing, it does not mean I can neglect this subject. I feel as a teacher you must be able to understand how your learners receive what you are saying and doing. I also believe effective communication allows for you to take control of your class and to maintain their respect and behaviour. Body language (non-verbal) is used without even thinking about it, gestures, facial expressions, rolling eyes and even the way we stand, can affect the way your students perceive you. When we talk (verbal) we think about the things we say and how we say them, the tone and pitch used influences the way we communicate. â€Å"Empathy and sympathy are also skills of communication, however, don’t be too keen to reveal to your learners personal information about you. † (Gravells Simpson 2009). To ensure for effective communication the teacher must ensure for any barriers learners have to be removed. Barriers prevent students from learning; therefore they have an effect upon their performance educationally, socially and personally. You should always take into consideration any physical, psychological and physiological factors that are barriers, learning difficulties, English may be a second language, or just the way you’re presenting it and the jargon being used. Communication is conveying and receiving information through words and actions. It is vital that you relay this information correctly, so as to improve your learner’s education. Summary I have written the content based upon my own personal and professional experiences. This has all been reinforced by researching books, internet, DTLLS sessions and mini teaching lessons by my peers. Learners naturally want to achieve but are not sure how, things that are not familiar or if there are personal, professional, social issues can become barriers, these can be removed by negotiations. This has been clarified by my research. Learner achievement works and develops immensely through inclusive learning, which I strongly believe in. Within my profession there are two sides, one being practical and the other theory. Practical is normally fairly straight forward, with the learner showing competence and knowledge of a decorating task. The theory side is more complicated as Health Safety etc. get more intricate, that’s where functional skills work well. There is a great deal of information out there, you need to sift through it, take on board what applies to you, and your students in the planning and enabling learning sector. Then your teaching skills will improve immensely, benefiting all involved. The research I have carried out has certainly helped to broaden my knowledge on, planning and enabling learning. I will use this to develop my students educational learning.

How to Tackle the 2015-16 Common Application Essay Prompts - The Essay Expert In preparation for a TV interview on Channel 3000 last summer, I researched the new Common Application Essay questions. Somehow I got it into my head that I had already written about them since I had researched them. But in actuality, I did not share these new topics on my blog! Now that it’s college application season, I am really and truly sharing the Common Application Essay Prompts for 2015-2016. These new college essay prompts, on which I’ve commented below, were crafted based on survey results from almost 6,000 people who were members and constituents of the Common Application organization. The parts that changed from last year are in italics: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it.  If this sounds like you, then please share your story. (Previous prompt: â€Å"Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it†¦.†) I like that â€Å"identity, interest, and talent† were added as options and that the words â€Å"so central to your identity† were replaced with â€Å"meaningful.† These changes open up the question to a broader range of possible responses, and frankly take some pressure off. Not every applicant has a background that they consider â€Å"so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it.† But just about everyone has something in their life that’s meaningful enough to be important to share with the admissions committee. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? (First sentence was added to prompt.) Honestly, I don’t love this addition. To me it’s too handholding and should be clear to any student writing an essay about failure. Perhaps schools were not getting enough essays that showed how students applied the lessons they learned from their failures? But I would think a student’s approach to this essay would be one of the aspects admissions officers would want to consider, without handing a directive to them on a silver platter. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again? (No change.) In my experience, this question proves challenging for most high school students. Few youngsters at that age have gone against the grain in a meaningful way. I recall in second grade challenging teachers who were talking during a fire drill, and, in high school, writing an editorial expressing my dislike of the student dress code. Neither was serious fodder for a college essay. Nevertheless, for those debaters and newspaper editors and political activists in the college application pool, answering this prompt might be just the right road to admission. Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. (Completely new prompt, replacing this previous one: â€Å"Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you?†) I like this change a lot! The previous question was fairly bland and presented a difficult writing challenge, with no obvious opportunity to show growth. The new question, in contrast, provides an exciting opportunity for students to display their intellectual prowess or emotional intelligence. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. (No change.) This might be the prompt to go or be changed significantly in 2016-17. Can you imagine thousands of students struggling to find something â€Å"different† to say about their Bar Mitzvah or Eagle Scout project? However, the prompt does offer an opportunity to explore and describe a unique childhood-to-adulthood transition. I remember fondly, for instance, the essay of one of my clients who taught his sister how to ride a bike, going from being annoyed at her wimpiness to owning his teacher role and succeeding in his task. The challenge here is to steer clear of anything clichà ©. That’s my take on the new College Application essays. As for other people’s opinions on these prompts, almost all of those surveyed agreed that the current prompts would generate effective essays on the whole. A slight majority believed the â€Å"story/background† prompt is the most effective, and I agree. In fact, most students could probably answer that question and submit a very effective essay; but there’s value in offering four more ways for students to approach thinking about their unique offerings and how to talk about their lives in 650 words. Note that very few participants in the survey wanted the â€Å"Topic of Your Choice† topic back. This is understandable since a student could write about pretty much any topic of their choice that’s personal to them and fit it within one of the current essay choices.
